What’s in your wallet?

If you’re from the U.S., you will reflexively know that marketing tagline. If you’re not, that’s the catchphrase financial-services giant CapitalOne uses in TV and print ads to market its credit cards. I’m stealing it for the moment because it fits the theme of this dispatch:

(Note: This is a story I originally published in June 2022 on my Substack subscription account: Ministry of Alpha. I have decided I will occasionally post older stories here, truncated a good bit, after my Ministry of Alpha readers have had plenty of time to act on my recommendations. That said, all the NFTs mentioned in this piece remain key holdings in my Ledger hardware wallet.)

People regularly ask me what I am holding long-term, if anything. Fact is, I am holding quite a lot in my long-term portfolio. And to be clear, “long term” for me means years, not weeks or months. I’m buying and holding projects that I think have a real future as this space matures over the remainder of this decade.

Might be wrong with some of these, no doubt. So be it.

I would classify none of these holdings as “bags.” I typically own between 1 and 5 of each of these projects, largely because I come at NFT investing a lot like I’ve approached the stock market over…
